Bir Ha'
Overview
Bir Ha is a historic well that is uniquely located within the precincts of Masjid Nabawi itself, in the area that was once the garden of Abu Talha al-Ansari. It is one of the few wells that visitors can encounter during their regular prayers in the Haram. The well has been incorporated into the mosque structure through its many expansions.
Historical significance
This well was located in the most prized garden owned by Abu Talha, the wealthiest of the Ansar. When the Quranic verse was revealed, 'You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love' (Ali Imran 3:92), Abu Talha immediately went to the Prophet ﷺ and donated his entire beloved garden containing this well. The Prophet ﷺ frequently drank from Bir Ha and praised its water, making it one of the most blessed water sources in Madinah.
Did you know?
When Abu Talha offered his garden, the Prophet ﷺ suggested he distribute it among his relatives rather than give it to the general public, combining the reward of charity with the reward of maintaining family ties.
