Overview
Alyasira Well is a prophetic well in Madinah whose very name carries a message of optimism bestowed by the Prophet ﷺ himself. Located south of the city center, the well is one of several prophetic water sources that dot the Madinah landscape. It is a lesser-visited site that rewards those who seek out the more hidden corners of prophetic history.
Historical significance
This well was originally called 'Al-Aseera,' meaning 'difficulty' or 'hardship,' reflecting the troubles its owners faced. When the Prophet ﷺ visited the well, he renamed it 'Al-Yasira,' meaning 'ease' and 'facility,' transforming its very identity with a prayer for blessing. This act exemplifies the Prophet's practice of replacing negative names with positive ones, a habit he applied to people, places, and things throughout his life as a means of invoking good fortune.
Did you know?
The Prophet ﷺ renamed many things he found to have negative connotations. He changed the name of the city itself from 'Yathrib' (which implies fault-finding) to 'Madinah' (the Radiant City) and also called it 'Taiba' (the Pure).

Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the Fire.

Bir Rumah, also known as the Well of Uthman, is a historic well located in the northwestern part of Madinah surrounded by a public garden and date palm groves. The well site has been developed into a small park-like area that provides a peaceful green space for visitors. A large date palm garden adjacent to the well is said to still produce fruit from trees descended from the original plantings.

One of the famous prophetic wells. The Prophet (peace be upon him) changed its name from "Al-Aseera" (difficulty) to "Al-Yasirah" (ease), reflecting his practice of choosing optimistic and positive names.

Bir Budaah is a historic well located approximately 500 meters from Masjid Nabawi in the old city area of Madinah. The well is known for a specific prophetic narration about the purity of water and was historically used for various purposes by the people of Madinah. The site has been marked and preserved, though the well is no longer in active use.
