Masjid al-Nabawi

The Prophet's Mosque is the second holiest site in Islam and the spiritual heart of Madinah. It houses the Rawdah ash-Sharifah, a garden of Paradise between the Prophet's pulpit and his noble chamber, as well as the iconic Green Dome marking his blessed resting place. The mosque has been expanded many times throughout history and can accommodate over one million worshippers.

Companion Homes (Qiblah Wall)

The area along the present Qiblah wall near Bab as-Salam marks where homes of several companions were located. Four are specifically identified: House of Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, House of Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib, House of Ammar bin Yasir, and House of Nawfal bin Haris.

Prophetic Wives' Chambers

Originally 9 chambers for the Prophet's wives. The chamber of Aisha became the Sacred Chamber. Other chambers were on the eastern and northern sides but have been incorporated into mosque expansions over the centuries.

Masjid al-Ghamama

Masjid al-Ghamama is a graceful Ottoman-era mosque located just southwest of Masjid Nabawi. Its name means "Mosque of the Cloud" and it features elegant stonework and a distinctive dome characteristic of Ottoman architectural style. It is one of the closest historic mosques to the Prophet's Mosque.

Masjid Abu Bakr al-Siddiq

Masjid Abu Bakr al-Siddiq is a historic mosque located near the southwestern corner of Masjid Nabawi, honoring the first Rightly Guided Caliph and the Prophet's closest companion. It is a modest structure in the old city area surrounded by traditional Madinah architecture. The mosque's proximity to the Haram makes it an easy addition to any visit.

Masjid Ali ibn Abi Talib

Located approximately 290m from Masjid Nabawi and 122m from Masjid Ghamama. Named after the fourth Caliph Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA).

Masjid Bilal is a small mosque located very close to the southern perimeter of Masjid Nabawi, honoring Bilal ibn Rabah, Islam's first muezzin. It is one of the easiest historic mosques to visit given its proximity to the Haram. The mosque sits quietly among the busy streets surrounding the Prophet's Mosque.

Masjid al-Sajdah, also known as Masjid Abu Dharr, is a small mosque located about 900 meters north of Masjid Nabawi. It is nestled in a residential area and is often missed by visitors who do not know its history. The mosque is named for a special prostration that took place at this location.
